There are many concerns with the quality of education students receive in our nation’s urban schools. Charter schools are among the recent trends in educational reform attempting to improve the quality of education available to students. Charter schools offer the hope of transforming the American education system by creating a new institutional regime and serving as a laboratory for innovative ideas. One goal is to provide parents with an additional school choice for their children, increasing the level of education the child receives as well as the level of parental involvement.
